MLM Tip #5: Use Your Product

This is the fifth installment in a series of posts that will help those who have chosen, as I have (read about our business here), to become part of a multi-level-marketing (MLM) type business. If you haven’t seen installment the third it is probably because it is on MLM Gateway. Check that out here. These tips can also help affiliate marketers, direct sales reps, and network marketers as well.

Eventually these tips will become a video series. These bite sized “nugget posts”, are intentionally short to make it easier for busy business owners to get a good nugget of knowledge quickly. These are tips that my husband and I have found helpful in our own small business.

If you are reading this chances are you are a rep for an MLM company and you want more sales. That means you have some kind of product you wish to sell to someone. With that said, I only have one question. Are you using your product? I hope the answer is a yes.



Strengthens your why.

What is your why? If you do not know, your why is the reason why you got into the business that you are in. It is important to know what your why is because your why is also your motivation. It is also an important to know because your why will be asked at some point in your career.

Makes you more of an authority.

If you use the products you are selling you will become a product of your products. That in itself will most likely earn you more recruits or customers. Using the products you sell also gives you first hand experience with the products. Having this experience means you can answer more questions without BSing your customers. Believe me, customers can see right through BS. Anyway, becoming a product of your product could become your why in a stand alone capacity.

Builds trust with your customer. 

On the note of BSing customers, would you buy a car from someone who does not drive. Wouldn’t you wonder why that person sells cars but does not drive? Who sells cars without driving them? Wouldn’t that be a little off putting? How can someone who does not drive give me the information I need? This is an example but sometimes it takes even less for a prospect to pass up your opportunity. Not to overkill this point, but why would someone buy from you when you don’t even buy from you? Don’t give prospects another reason not to buy or join.
